The W3C Consortium is responsible for web standards , and often you will see web pages displaying the validation logo. This should mean that those pages are using code that complies with the consortium's standards for that particular HTML document type.
The HTML5 logo is a new and rather attractive logo that represents the next generation of HTML standards. The extended icons to the right of the logo represent the types of functionality embedded within the HTML5 document. This logo is displayed here for information only, as we currently use the strict XHTML document type on our site.
